Challenge: The customer needed a correction axis for an electronics manufacturing tool that would fit in a very small envelope and be very stiff with small parts.
Solution: Motion Solutions custom-designed a wedge stage using custom materials and high-strength bearings. This resulted in a stage with minimal height and maximum stiffness. We provided full FEA reports to study deflection/stiffness of the assembly and set up different preload specs for the bearings to achieve the required performance.
Result: Motion Solutions was able to do detailed collaborative analysis, testing, and metrology characterization. Through several iterations of prototypes and analysis, we were able to successfully achieve the customer’s performance specs.
