Challenge: The customer was primarily concerned with fine resolution moves with 1 um relative repeatability.
Solution: LGS25 XYZ design with a direct drive stepper motor with ball screw and a flexure. We leveraged our LGS25 base design and mounted a direct drive stepper motor with a low friction ball screw, and proprietary drive coupling system to reduce cyclical runout error of the screw for an overall improvement in accuracy.
Result: The final configuration complied with customer requirements and performance parameters. The customer appreciated Motion Solutions’ willingness to collaborate and design the system with their specific needs.
