Challenge: Customer was using a solution from a competitor and they had continuous quality and design issues. The competitor was offering their standard wedge stage for a Z, and their standard linear actuators for their XY. They also wanted a lower cost alternative for XYZ motion.
Solution: Motion Solutions provided a custom wedge z-stage along with our standard product XY. The Z-axis custom design wedge carries the XY platform. The X-axis is a LGSW33 and the Y-axis is a LGS33.
Result: MOSO was chosen because we were willing to collaborate and design the system with their specific needs and customer feedback. We were able to work with the customer to discover the source of the problems they were experiencing with their existing system through several customer visits, FEA, and RMA testing, etc. We determined that the bearing preloads needed to be increased and the overall structure made stiffer, and we incorporate these changes into our design. The customer appreciated the additional effort and liked the result.
