Challenge: The customer needed a full XYZ instrument with mechanics and controls. The z-axis had to be compact, stiff, low cost and high resolution. The frame had to fit an existing envelope which proved to be challenging as they wanted as much stroke as possible. A lot of strokes in a small envelope was the key challenge here.
Solution: Motion Solutions utilized a Z-axis (an early version that birthed the release of our nPS35) for carrying the XY platform. The X-axis was an LGS33 with an outrigger rail and the Y-axis used was an LGS33.
Result: Motion Solutions was able to leverage ready made designs within the customer’s required envelope constraints. The result was a full frame instrument with the XYZ mechanics integrated and as tightly packaged as possible. This was a successful turn-key solution that solved the clients’ mechanics, cabling, and drive needs.
