Challenge: Most OEMs are looking for a “right sized” solution that balances the performance, cost, and longevity of a design. Often, prototyping is done with a functional solution that is over-specified for the engineering challenge as part of the proof of concept. In these cases, as envelopes and interfaces are determined early in a design, it may become essential to have a drop-in replacement designed for the application that doesn’t require changes in the physical dimensions or interfaces.
Solution: Motion Solutions designed a custom piezo stage based on our well-established XY piezo stages that mounts in the same hole pattern as the competitive product.
Result: MOSO is willing to collaborate and design a system with specific needs and customer feedback. We will work with you to identify challenges and the best way to resolve those challenges using our expertise, customer visits, FEA, other testing, etc. The unit ended up being 25mm W X 25mm D X 12.5mm H, has a 40µm closed-loop travel, with position noise of 2nm and resonant frequencies of 735Hz & 840Hz.
