Rotary Actuator Designed for Servo and Stepper Motors

Challenge: Our client needed a rotary actuator designed to accommodate several versions of off-the-shelf servo and stepper motors.  Most rotary actuator manufacturers limit motor options to only a narrow band of manufacturers or types; ultimately reducing the flexibility to the OEM.  Other critical aspects of the actuator are precision, low backlash, low noise, and reliability.

Solution: Motion Solutions designed the rotary actuator to accommodate a wide variety of motor inputs.  The gearset and bearings selected for use were optimized for precision, backlash, low noise, and reliability.

Result: The OEM is now able to select from a wide variety of motors to suit their customer needs without having to reconfigure the actuator.  This reduces the number of SKUs the OEM needs to manage and allows them to leverage better pricing by way of volume discounts.
